WAPAN is managed by a diverse team of professionals and experts dedicated to promoting sustainable peace. Team members have expertise ranging from Peace and Conflict Research, Security, Sustainable Community Development, International Development, and Human Rights.
Mr. Abdul Karim Issifu
Mr. Abdul Karim Issifu is the Executive Director of West Africa Peace Ambassadors Network (WAPAN). Mr. Issifu holds a Master of Social Science degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from Uppsala University, Sweden, and Master of Philosophy degree in Peace and Development Studies from University of Cape Coast, Ghana, following a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Community Development from University for Development Studies, Ghana. He is a Rotary Peace Scholar at Uppsala Rotary Peace Centre with outstanding proficiency in peace and conflict research. Mr. Issifu has presented in top global peace conferences and published 17 research articles in reputable journals. In 2016, he received a certificate award from the US Embassy in Ghana for promoting peace in Ghana’s 2016 general election.
Mr. Peter Baffour Awuah
Mr. Peter Baffour Awuah is the Deputy Executive Director. Mr. Awuah holds a BA degree in Integrated Community Development from University for Development Studies, Ghana. Before joining WAPAN, he worked with the National Commission for Civic Education as a civic educator, and Child Hope Relief-Ghana as a project manager for the Safe Walk to School Project. Mr. Awuah is an expert in community development and civic peace education.
Mr. Sadiq Adu-Twum
Mr. Sadiq Adu-Twum is the public relations officer. He has together over 20 years of working experience with the Ghana Armed Forces (Navy), CinePlus TV and Parliament of Ghana. Mr Adu-Twum served with the United Nations headquarters in DR Congo as a communications officer between 2011 and 2012. His area of focus and interest varies from quantitative and qualitative conflict analysis, peace and security journalism, public relations, and youth and community development. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies (Journalism and Public Relations) from Pentecost University College and Master of Arts degree in Conflict, Peace and Security from Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center.
Mr. Felix Dade
Mr. Felix Dade has a decade’s experience in the areas of education, youth and social work. He holds a BA in Social Work and Sociology from the University of Ghana. Since 2015, under the auspices of PeaceJam Ghana, Mr. Dade has coordinated youth working groups that have planned conference and seminar for Nobel Peace laureates such as Leymah Gbowee, Betty Williams, Jody Williams and Kailash Satyarthi to engage with young grassroots activist in Ghana. Through this, he has led sessions that has trained young people in grassroots peace education, conflict resolution, social change and community development.
